Latin America Regional Meeting

The Latin America Regional Meeting was held in São Paulo, Brazil on March 7, 2007. The meeting was scheduled to coincide with the IBA's International Mergers and Acquisitions in Latin America Conference. Veirano Advogados, WSG member for Brazil, graciously hosted the meeting and offered our guests the pleasure of being addressed by José G. Montforte, Chairman of the Brazilian Institute for Corporate Governance.

The event was attended by 21 members representing 14 jurisdictions. As a region, the group has an interest in learning more about common clients and local investments occurring in their respective locations. Other opportunities for professionals from other countries doing business in Latin America are being discussed for the coming year.

European Regional Meeting

Garrigues, WSG member for Spain hosted the European Regional Meeting in Barcelona, Spain on April 13, 2007. The meeting topic was Alternative Dispute Resolution represented by a panel of WSG members skilled on ADR and an expert guest speaker, Mercedes Tarrazón, Founder of Dispute Management Law Firm. This topic focus brought tremendous success to the meeting and generated several objectives in the area including making WSG a main resource for clients being serviced in the ADR arena and forming an ADR group made up of member experts.

The highly productive meeting was attended by 28 members representing 19 jurisdictions. Plans for the region in the upcoming year included WSG presence at the MIPIM, ICA, IBA/ABA Tax, NY Tax and EELA conferences and the possibility of an exchange program for attorneys among member firms.

INTA Networking Event

Dykema joined WSG in hosting a networking cocktail event for those WSG members attending the INTA Annual Meeting in Chicago on May 1, 2007. The event was attended by over 70 members, representing 39 jurisdictions. The meeting gave attendees the opportunity to visit the famous Mercantile Exchange Centre Building. WSG networking events continue to grow and offer increased contacts and opportunities for members. We would like to express our thanks to Dykema with their assistance in making the event a success.

EELA Networking Event

For the first time, a small cocktail event was organized for the WSG attendees of the EELA conference held in Stockholm, Sweden on May 11, 2007. The event was hosted by Delphi & Co, at their offices and was attended by several WSG members. We look forward to growth of this event as experience by other WSG cocktail events.
