The North American Regional Meeting was held in February and was hosted by Akerman Senterfitt, WSG Legal member Florida. There were over 30 attendees representing 21 jurisdictions. The participants began the meeting with a panel discussion regarding the "Strategic Changes Needed to Thrive in the Current Economic Climate". The panel took the perspectives of the investment banking industry, the accounting industry and a legal perspective led by our guest speaker, Joe Altonji, Consultant at Hildebrandt Baker Robbins, who summarized by noting there were many adjustments to come for the legal industry. Kevin O'Keefe, CEO of LexBlog, Inc., gave an eye opening presentation on "Using 21st Century Networking and Communications Technology to Your Advantage". The presentation demonstrated the current and coming changes happening through the use of technology and how to better understand and implement them both as an individual and to benefit the firms. The meeting also offered many networking opportunities including a wonderful dinner overlooking Miami's Atlantic Ocean.

The African Regional Meeting was held in Cape Town in March and was hosted by Webber Wentzel, WSG Legal member South Africa. WSG is happy to have gathered the region's members for a productive discussion on WSG growth and benefits for the region and presentations including "Legal Practices of Non-African firms on the Continent" among other topics. The meeting was held in conjunction with the IBA African Regional Meeting and offered many networking opportunities for professionals doing business in and with the region.
