What We Believe
Globalization has transformed the way business is conducted. The market for tangible products has always crossed borders, but today, the advancement of technology has created a surge in the need for services to cross boundaries as well. Continually, industries and regions that once were considered independent of each other are intertwining and professionals sense the need to use experts in other fields to expand their knowledge to become even more effective in their dealings. WSG's tools are a dynamic way for members to locate individual professionals with specific expertise to assist clients and resolve issues.
WSG Mission
The mission of World Services Group (WSG) is to create a global network of professional service industries which promotes members' mutual interests and provides for their benefit and their clients' benefit access to the services of other members. The purpose is to provide a local, national, regional and global forum for communication, information exchange, networking, and identification of business expansion opportunities. This is accomplished through peer-to-peer networking, professional development and annual conferences which are critical means for fulfilling the mission.
Chairman's Objectives 2007-08
It is a great honor to have been elected to the position of Chairman of World Services Group for the 2007-08 period, the first Chairman not to come from the Americas. It is recognition of the ever strengthening international expansion of WSG. I congratulate Burt Landy on the wonderful job he has done over the last twelve months. Burt's enthusiasm and drive are legendry.
WSG has come a long way in its short five year history. Entering our second five years, I look forward to working with you to lift the profile of WSG both externally and with our more than 18,000 professionals.
Our clients are increasingly looking for opportunities beyond their base city, state or country. By joining WSG, you have understood this. We need to ensure that we maintain the quality of our membership. You need confidence that when you refer a client to a far off member, the quality of service provided will be recognized and admired by your clients.
During this year as Chairman, we will aggressively seek to grow our legal membership in the United States, Asia Pacific and Africa. As you know, we are particularly strong in South America, Europe, many of the US states and Canada. Luis Cifuentes and Diego Salto lead the Task Force to expand our Accounting members. Ramon Usategui and Burt Landy lead a new Task Force to expand our Financial Services members. The Board will be reviewing the Open Groups, reviewing the by-laws, reviewing our membership and looking at strategic planning for our future.
I would like to remind you of the upcoming WSG European Regional Meeting, which will take place this spring in Paris; we would be open for registrations within the next month. Also, I am glad for the success of the WSG networking luncheon during the IBA conference in Singapore last September, where we had a record number of registrations. It was a wonderful networking opportunity and a new recognition of the strengthening of WSG.
Being a passive member of WSG is not sufficient. Active participation creates more opportunities to forge new relationships and open up those lines of communication. Working together we can take WSG to the next level, to the mutual advantage of all member firms.
Chairman - Peter Bartlett
