Waller is Leading the Effort to Continue Medical Malpractice Reform in Tennessee with Proposed Legislation to Help Protect Healthcare Providers

March, 2015 -

The Government Relations team at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP is currently advocating two bills before the Tennessee Legislature that would continue medical malpractice reform in the State.
  • House Bill 1285 / Senate Bill 819 addresses who can be named in a medical malpractice lawsuit and would protect individuals and entities who are not healthcare providers – such as landlords, passive investors, parent companies and uninvolved corporate affiliates – from allegations of medical negligence.
  • House Bill 714 / Senate Bill 889 would make healthcare survey forms inadmissible as evidence in medical malpractice cases and would also limit the use of healthcare survey forms in advertising.
Service to the healthcare industry has long been a cornerstone of Waller’s legal practice, and we believe that these bills will help to enhance balance in medical malpractice lawsuits for our clients and other healthcare providers operating in Tennessee.
