Interest Shown for the Kotor-Cetinje Cableway Concession

September, 2016 - Karanovic & Nikolic

Montenegrin media outlets have recently reported that the initial phase of the tender for the pre-qualification procedure in awarding the concession for the Kotor-Lovcen-Cetinje cableway – announced on 3 August in the Official Gazette of Montenegro – will be open to interested parties until 5 October this year. The president of the Tender Commission, Daliborka Pejovic, pointed out that seven potential concessionaires have so far shown great interest for submitting the required documentation in the pre-qualification stage.

The concession in question entails that the awarded party will construct and operate a cableway from Kotor to Cetinje, with intermediary stations in Kuk and Ivanova Korita with a total length of 14.7 kilometers, meaning that it has the potential to be the longest cableway in the world. It is also planned for it to feature closed gondolas which will take the passengers for a 45 minute ride through the most beautiful parts of Montenegro including the Bay of Kotor and the Lovcen mountain. The estimated value of the project is EUR 47 million, with an anticipated period of 12 months for construction.

According to Pejovic, the Tender Commission is satisfied with the interest shown by the potential concessionaries, attributing it – among other things – to the fact that the public invitation was published in the Financial Times, as well as in domestic printed media outlets.
