Real estate experts at national law firm Shoosmiths have advised Pharm Research Associates (UK) Limited (PRA) on real estate aspects relating to the acquisition of new sites in Russia and the Netherlands, and a lease regear at its UK HQ.

Shoosmiths worked alongside leading Russian law firm and World Services Group (WSG) partner, Alrud to advise on all aspects of documentation relating to the £2.5m lease acquisition (with significant capex investment by PRA) of a new site of approximately 18000sqft in the prestigious new development of Silver City, a Class A multi-purpose business centre in Moscow, Russia.

Shoosmiths also worked with leading Dutch firm and WSG partner, Van Doorne N.V, reviewing and advising on all aspects of the lease acquisition documentation relating to the 6700sqft site at the Yin Yang Building, Euclideslaan 1 in Utrecht, Netherlands - a circa.£0.5m deal.

Shoosmiths was also tasked to advise PRA on the on the lease regear of its UK headquarters, based in Green Park, Reading, at 500 South Oak Way. The terms were negotiated directly by PRA and the landlord Maple Tree.

Shoosmiths’ real estate partner, Nathan Rees, and senior associate Angela Mildenhall advised PRA on the UK site, together with Stanislav Veselov from Alrud on the Moscow acquisition. Angela advised PRA on the Netherlands site alongside Kim te Brave from Van Doorne N.V.

Chris Gray, Vice President at Pharm Research Associates, Operations Finance Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific, commented: “The luxury of using a firm such as Shoosmiths on international deals, is that you know that with its WSG connections you will get the same quality of advice internationally.

“These were complex deals across various jurisdictions and it was made seamless by Shoosmiths, who understood our aims and objectives. They were able to communicate these and work extremely well with the firms in Russia and the Netherlands, keeping everything on track.”

Shoosmiths’ Nathan Rees added: “It was a pleasure to have advised PRA on such significant deals and to work internationally with our WSG partners. With these new premises we wish PRA all the best in achieving their commercial aims for the future.”
