Part of the Vance Center’s "Women in the Profession" program: Carey and five other Chilean law firms held the first meeting of the “Women in the Legal Profession” program

February, 2018 - Santiago, Chile

More than 90 partners and associates from various Chilean law firms met on Wednesday, January 17, at Carey’s offices to discuss the challenges faced by women in the legal profession.

This was the first event that brought together such a large number of women lawyers from law firms at a local level. It was jointly sponsored by six Chilean firms: Carey, A & G Lawyers, Albalgli Zaliasnik, Alessandri, Bofill Escobar and Recabarren & Asociados.

The event was held within the Chilean chapter of the Women in the Profession program of the Vance Center (WIP), a program that was born in 2007, and that in conjunction with local partners, organizes conferences and events in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Uruguay. This type of event brings together partners and associates from Latin American law firms, in house counsels, and government representatives to share ideas and initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.

This event will be followed by the launch of the second stage of Carey’s mentoring program, “Learning to Lead” (Aprendiendo a Liderar), which, in 2016, was chosen as the best mentoring program for lawyers in Latin America by Chambers & Partners.
