January, 2018 - Dallas, Texas

Haynes and Boone, LLP is pleased to announce that President Donald Trump nominated Partner Jeremy D. Kernodle to serve as a U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas.

"Jeremy's clients and colleagues have come to rely on his consummate litigation skills, impeccable judgment and even-keeled temperament - attributes that will allow him to be an equally fair and effective judge," said Haynes and Boone Managing Partner Tim Powers. "The President could not have selected a more deserving nominee, and I am confident that, if confirmed, Jeremy will serve with great distinction."

In a statement today, the White House highlighted Kernodle's accomplishments as a litigator and public servant.

As a partner at Haynes and Boone, Kernodle has defended numerous high-stakes cases in federal district courts and appellate courts across the country.

He is also a leader at Haynes and Boone and in the Dallas community. He serves as chair of the firm's False Claims Act/Qui Tam Practice Group. He is the past president of the Dallas chapter of the Federal Bar Association and currently serves on the association’s executive committee. He is also president of the Dallas Chapter of the Federalist Society and the secretary of the Dallas Bar Association's Appellate Section.

Before joining Haynes and Boone, Kernodle served as an attorney-adviser in the Office of Legal Counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he was among a small number of lawyers advising the White House and other senior Executive Branch officials on constitutional and other significant legal issues.

Kernodle graduated summa cum laude from Harding University and graduated first in his class from Vanderbilt University Law School. He clerked for Judge Gerald Bard Tjoflat of the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
