Haynes and Boone’s Sakina Rasheed Foster Named to DBJ 40 Under 40

January, 2018 - Dallas, Texas

Haynes and Boone, LLP Finance Partner Sakina Rasheed Foster has been recognized among Dallas Business Journal's "40 Under 40" honorees for 2018.

The awards "celebrate the up-and-comers and people that North Texas community should know - they're the future executives and influencers to watch in the Dallas-Fort Worth business community and beyond," DBJ says.

Foster, who is experienced in secured and unsecured lending, leads teams representing major international corporate borrowers, airlines, private equity sponsors and other financial institutions in complex high-dollar financing and corporate deals. Her work is helping raise the national and regional profile of Haynes and Boone's Finance Section and the firm as a whole. For instance, she helped lead a diverse team of lawyers that helped a significant client with a significant effort to streamline its supply chain around the world. She also was key to the firm engaging a large international aviation client and serves as the main point of contact for the client's U.S. legal needs.

Foster also has demonstrated her commitment to diversity, equality and civility through her community work with the Equal Access to Justice Campaign, Orchid Giving Circle (a Dallas Women's Foundation group that raises funds for North Texas Asians in need) and various professional groups. She has served as president of the Dallas Asian American Bar Association and as Dallas Bar Association secretary-treasurer. She is a DBA director and helped lead the DBA group that in 2017 formed an Equal Access to Justice Foundation to raise long-term funding for legal aid to the poor in North Texas.

She chairs the State Bar of Texas Lawyers Assistance Program. And she co-chairs the 2017-2018 Equal Access to Justice Campaign benefiting the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, which provides legal aid for residents in poverty. Foster completed Leadership Dallas in 2016 and served as an adviser for the 2017 class.

The Dallas Association of Young Lawyers named her Outstanding Young Lawyer in 2015, and D Magazine named her as a Best Lawyer for Banking and Finance in 2016. In 2017, the Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars named her among the Up-and-Coming 50 Women in Texas, and the National Diversity Council recognized her as one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Dallas.

"We are delighted that Sakina has been recognized for this well-deserved honor," Managing Partner Tim Powers said. "She is a dynamic partner who is devoted to her clients and is a leader within the firm and in the Dallas community."
