Goldcorp and Glamis Agree to $21.3 Billion US Combination

On August 31, 2006, Goldcorp Inc. and Glamis Gold Ltd. announced that they have agreed to combine in a $21.3 billion US transaction to create one of the world's largest gold mining companies. The new company will continue under the name Goldcorp Inc.

Goldcorp is being represented by Cassels Brock with a team led by Paul Stein (M&A and Mining) and includes Mark Bennett (M&A and Mining), Jeffrey Roy (M&A) and Jennifer Traub (Mining and Securities); Sofia Tsakos, Leigh-Ann McGowan and Robert Soccio (Securities); Bruce Bell (Financial Services); Marcel Théroux (Pensions); Chris Hersh (Competition); and Lorne Saltman (Tax).
