May, 2018 - Sydney, Australia

Announced at a gala dinner in Shanghai on Thursday, 17 May 2018, MinterEllison was awarded the AustCham Westpac Australia China Business Award (ACBA) in the Professional and Business Services Category for the second consecutive year.

For 25 years, the AustCham Westpac ACBA's have been recognising Australian and Chinese companies working together in the Greater China region. Finalists in the Professional and Business Services Category included King & Wood Mallesons, Moelis Australia, L.E.K. Consulting, CPA Australia, FCM Travel Solutions and Think China.

"We are delighted to have won the Professional and Business Services Category," said Adam Handley, MinterEllison Partner and the firm's China Markets Leader. "Winning for a second consecutive year is a huge endorsement and recognition of our more than 20 year commitment to the China market and the China and Australia bi-lateral relationship".

"With more than 40 partners and 100 lawyers focussed on the China market we are honoured that Australian and Chinese clients have trusted us to advise on some of the highest profile and most complex transactions between China and Australia. Our extensive team, on the ground in Australia and China, prides itself on our capacity to navigate the inevitable cross cultural differences that arise in cross border transactions. Our team goes above and beyond the role of a legal advisor to help steward successful transactions that make a meaningful contribution to the increasingly important bilateral relationship between our two countries"

"We have worked diligently to get our China strategy right," said Chris Carr, MinterEllison Partner and Chief Representative in Shanghai. "Investment between our two countries is much more than just a source of capital, it provides knowledge and relationships that have benefited both...this award recognises the time and effort MinterEllison has taken to develop the skillsets and relationships the firm needs to be our client's best partner in the region."

The AustCham Westpac ACBA's recognise Australian and Chinese companies creating strong ties with Greater China in eight categories celebrating business excellence, and received over 260 nominations this year. MinterEllison won this category last year and was also a Finalist in 2017 in the Cross Border Investment Category.
