Raymond A. Pelletier is a Partner in the firm’s Real Estate, Timberlands, Telecommunications and International practice groups.  Ray joined Verrill Dana in 1988.  From 1993 to 1996 he served as in-house Real Estate Counsel for Hannaford Bros. Co., a major supermarket chain, before returning to Verrill Dana. Ray has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America ® as one of Maine’s leading real estate lawyers. He has also been recognized by New England Super Lawyers. 

Real Estate

As a member of the firm’s Real Estate Group, Ray’s practice focuses on all aspects of commercial development, including site acquisition and leasing, governmental licensing and permitting, construction and financing.  Ray’s work has included the acquisition and development of supermarket, shopping center, medical, housing and other projects, as well as divestiture, site acquisition and development work for electrical utility and telecommunications clients. 

Timberlands

Ray has represented clients in the timber and forest products industry in a wide variety of matters, including purchases and sales involving hundreds of thousands of acres, complex partitions and land trades, agreements relating to the exploration and extraction of mineral rights, and the negotiation of management, harvesting, wood supply and other operational contracts.

Telecommunications

Since the late 1990’s, Ray has played a leading role in telecommunications site development in the State of Maine.  He has provided real estate and zoning expertise in the build out and reconfiguration of hundreds of telecommunications sites in every part of the State, including the development of towers, rooftop and stealth installations. 

International

As Chair of the firm’s International Practice Group, Ray provides transactional expertise to foreign as well as domestic clients.  He is fluent in Russian, and has spent considerable time in Russia and other Eastern European countries.  He is engaged in a variety of professional and civic activities involving the Russian Federation.
