Profile

Andrew is a Commercial Partner in Shoosmiths and is the Head of Shoosmiths Nottingham Office. He divides his time between managing the team, advising on a wide range of business critical contracts and building key client relationships.  Andrew has practiced exclusively in the areas of commercial and company law since qualifying as a solicitor in 1983.  Andrew’s wide experience of commercial work has included insolvency and competition law experience as well as mainstream commercial contract work. This background informs Andrew’s view of commercial matters and gives him a broad perspective on the situations on which he is asked to advise. Andrew remains a Fellow of R3 the UK’s leading insolvency organisation.

Before joining Shoosmiths in 1997 Andrew worked for Eversheds where he was a commercial partner for a number of years.

Andrew is described in the Legal 500 2011 as an outstanding client contact manager which reflects his conviction that client relationships are central to the work of Shoosmiths.

Deals on which Andrew has advised in recent years include:

  • Experian – advice on a range of long-term contracts with Experian’s customers and suppliers.

  • John Deere (UK) – ongoing support on a range of commercial agreements with dealers and others.

  • Kazakhmys – support on a range of consultancy agreements and similar matters for the exploitation of the Group’s mineral reserves.

Shoosmiths has three partners who have responsibility for the firm’s relationship with WSG (World Services Group - www.worldservicesgroup.com). Andrew is one of these three partners. This role provides regular exposure to, and dealings with lawyers and other intermediaries from many jurisdictions across the world.

Andrew enjoys lecturing and leading training initiatives on legal topics for both in house lawyers and others. He is a regular speaker at both Shoosmiths own training events and legal seminars organised for their clients by Experian Limited.
