Richard has experience of acting for a wide range of business suppliers from construction, recruitment, utility suppliers to more bespoke collections inclusive for the food and cosmetics markets. He has substantial experience in training Credit Staff in the latest changes within the collections industry. His hands on approach is typified by focusing early contact with the customers and giving practical advice to commercial clients on where and when to spend money, and also when to stop.
His recent project experience includes advising:
- A notable building construction supplier: Richard helped in training and giving proactive advice on collections which contributed to the reduction in their overall annual legal spend, and increased recoveries by over 7%.
- A national UK supplier of licensing: Richard assisted with a project for collections which run over a period of 12 months. It was managed by the team and delivered a resounding success with recovery rates far in excess of expectations.
- International collections: Richard has forged a commercial arrangement with a national collections/insurance based company who has agreed to undertake collections internationally on behalf of all Shoosmiths client, at preferred rates, and have access to system updates all through the Shoosmiths portal.
- Richard project managed the implementation of the Interactive Debt Recovery System which won several awards for innovation and assisted Shoosmiths to delivery improved results for its clients.
Richard joined Shoosmiths in 1989 and has been involved with litigation, collections and has held partnership status since 1996. He works closely with the Institute of Credit Management and other professional bodies and has recently been interviewed for his opinions in connection with the Legal Reforms regarding the High Court Enforcement Officers and the subsequent 'transforming bailiff action'.
