Gordon carries on a general corporate/commercial solicitor's practice with an emphasis on the resource and energy sectors, assisting a diverse clientele with commercial transactions as well as providing day-to-day advice on legal issues relating to clients' operations. In the energy sector, Gordon represents a major electric utility and one of the leading western North American energy marketers in a range of commercial transactions.
Gordon was the Working Group Manager for the Business Services Group at Lawson Lundell from 2007-2009. He was the firm's Managing Partner from 1991 through 1994 and headed the firm's Corporate Services Department for more than 5 years.

* An electric utility in the $825 million purchase of an undivided interest in a 493 MW hydro-electric dam in British Columbia and the complex operating arrangements between the electric utility and its private sector co-owner
* An offshore consortium in a US$435 million equity and debt investment in a copper/cobalt/zinc mining project in Mexico
* An electric utility in negotiating agreements with private sector participants related to a $400 million high-voltage transmission infrastructure project
* The private sellers in a US$50 million sale of a Western Canadian value-added wood products business
* A private equity investor in connection with a US$40 million acquisition in the packaging sector
* An electric utility in the proposed purchase of a $500 million portfolio of hydro-electric generation facilities
* A western North American energy marketer in negotiating and drafting numerous US and Canadian energy contracts, including wholesale and retail power sale agreements, ISDA, EEI and WSPP agreements, CFDs, transmission agreements, financing agreements
* Energy marketers in negotiating and drafting agreements to purchase and sell "green attributes", Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) and GHG credits from renewable generation to meet voluntary and mandatory requirements in the emerging climate change sector
