COVID-19 has driven rapid and turbulent changes the world over. One of those principal changes is how business negotiations are now conducted - whether that is negotiating the terms of a new business deal, trying to resolve issues arising from the impact of COVID-19 on existing agreements, or attempting to successfully resolve a dispute.

Given the availability of video-links, this would seem to be the obvious alternative to a face-to-face negotiation - however, there remain some key differences that impact upon the dynamics of any negotiation conducted in this way.

Shepherd and Wedderburn LLP explored how to successfully navigate a video-link negotiation, and optimise the prospect of a successful outcome by stopping to consider and evaluate the nuances of the video-link medium before engaging in any online negotiation.
