Michael Hopp is a partner in Plesner's Corporate and Compliance team and head of our Data Protection team. He is co-head of our Operational Compliance team together with partner, Henriette Stakemann.
Since 2000 Michael has been deeply involved in data protection law and he has acquired broad and in-depth experience in handling all types of data protection law issues. Michael is widely recognised as a leading Danish advisor in the field.
Michael is in high demand among clients for his advice on the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the consequences of the regulation for private entities and public authorities. Michael always maintains a both hand-on and holistic approach that ensures value-creating advisory services.
Michael also advises clients on data protection compliance projects, international data transfers, whistle-blower hotlines, privacy policies for customers or employees, employee monitoring and data protection issues in relation to US Discovery.
Furthermore Michael has been instrumental in defining and formulating various large-scale compliance projects on behalf of large Danish businesses. For example, he has vast experience in drawing up binding corporate rules (BCR) then getting approval from the Danish Data Protection Agency.
In the area of marketing Michael has deep knowledge about data-driven marketing. In his work, Michael focuses particularly on the commercial gains to be made from the use of data-driven marketing. Specifically regarding the dynamic interpretation of legislation related to the promotion of new and unforeseen technologies, Michael is a value-adding adviser.
Michael has an extensive network, both nationally and internationally, which he uses actively for knowledge sharing and solving specific tasks for clients. Michael is a very popular speaker on data protection and marketing law.
