José has served the legal profession for 15 years. His work in Competition & Antitrust, Advertising, Marketing & Consumer Protection, Real Estate & Hospitality, Business Law, and Energy & Infrastructure has won notice from the influential review of lawyers, Chambers and Partners.In Real Estate & Hospitality, he has been involved in the development of Honduran coastal and urban areas. His Business Law practice includes legal assistance to multinational companies in their day-to-day affairs, due-diligence processes, and mergers and acquisitions in Honduras and Central America. With regard to Energy & Infrastructure, José has advised on Renewable Energy matters, including the first and largest wind power project in Honduras, as well as hydro-electrical and solar projects from inception to the financial closing. Additionally, he has expertise in providing legal advice in the regulated sector, in international and domestic bidding processes, power-sharing agreements, and legal counseling. In Advertising, Marketing & Consumer, he counsels clients on advertisement materials, image rights, promotions, unfair competition, and related topics.In 2015, José resigned from the law firm Lexincorp, where he had been a partner since 2013, in order to become one of six partners at the BLP offices in Honduras located in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. Before then, he worked at Consortium for 8 years and was legal adviser at the Honduran Embassy in Madrid, Spain.José earned his law degree from the Universidad de Navarra in 2001, and obtained a master’s degree from the Centro Universitario Villanueva of Universidad Complutense Madrid in 2004. He went on to earn a postgraduate degree in Commercial Law from the Universidad de Salamanca in 2006.In 2014 and 2015 he was named a Best Lawyer in Energy for Honduras by the publication, Best Lawyers. He is also an arbitrator and conciliator registered with the Conciliation and Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Tegucigalpa, and former guest writer for the “Doing Business” report of the World Bank (2010-2015).He is based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
