Profile

Mike Koplan's practice focuses on civil litigation with an emphasis in construction law and government construction contracts. He represents general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, owners, and developers on private and public construction projects, in federal and state courts, before administrative agencies, and in arbitrations and mediations.

Mike’s experience includes preparing and negotiating contract documents, indemnity and insurance coverage disputes, delay and impact claims, extra work claims, construction defect disputes, differing site conditions, mechanic's liens, bond claims, terminations, surety takeover agreements, and claims under the Contract Disputes Act (CDA). His practice includes advising clients on contract administration, risk management, and alternative dispute resolution.

Mike has prosecuted and defended construction claims in excess of $100 million in value. He represents clients throughout the country. Representative projects include hotels and resorts, hospitals, laboratories, large-scale residential buildings, condominiums, military housing buildings, commercial buildings, federal courthouses, a lock and dam project, and various other private and public projects. He also serves as primary construction litigation counsel for one of the country’s largest homebuilders.
