Kyra Howell practices in the area of commercial real estate and finance transactions, bringing a wealth of knowledge from her background in finance, real estate, government, litigation, and in-house business affairs. Her current experience includes HUD transactions, as well as primary and mezzanine lending in bridge-to-HUD and standard commercial lending transactions. She primarily concentrates on business transactions involving the financing of long term care facilities and other commercial properties.
Kyra has closed more than $2 billion in loans, including several transactions involving multiple facilities and multiple lenders. She handles all facets of such transactions, including drafting and negotiating loan documents, asset purchase agreements, leases and other closing documents, as well as performing related activities such as due diligence and corporate analysis. She is regularly involved in drafting opinion letters as local Tennessee or Virginia counsel.
Kyra previously managed her own multi-office firm in Virginia, where she assisted clients with real estate transactions, business matters, civil litigation, and estate planning. Her background includes serving as a member of the government relations group of a Washington, D.C. law firm, representing global finance, trade, and retail clients before Congress and the executive branch. In the United States Senate, she handled business, tax, and telecommunications policy matters, as well as interactions with various state business constituencies. She also served as assistant telecommunications counsel on the Telecommunications Subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives' Committee on Commerce.
Prior to working on Capitol Hill, Kyra served as general counsel for a satellite television company in New York, managing business affairs and advising the chairman and CEO on legal and legislative matters.
