Jack O'Farrell is a partner in A&L Goodbody's Commercial Department specialising in public and private company takeovers and mergers, initial and secondary public offerings, venture capital investments and joint ventures.

Recent significant cases in which he has been involved include the merger of Irish Permanent and Irish Life to create Irish Life & Permanent plc in 1999, the acquisition of Hibernian Group by CGU (now CGNU) in 2000, the IPO of Riverdeep Group plc, also in 2000, the acquisition of eircom plc by Valentia Telecommunications Limited in 2001 and the takeover of eircom's 63% controlling stake in golden Pages by VNU.

Jack holds a degree in Legal Science from Trinity College Dublin and a Masters degree in law from Cambridge University in England. He qualified as a solicitor in 1985 and has been a partner in the firm since 1991.
