Profile

Alejandro has extensive experience in domestic and international arbitration, acting as counsel. He has also been appointed as Secretary of Arbitral Tribunals and Arbitrator in financial and telecommunications disputes. He has acted as lead attorney in arbitrations related to the automotive industry, energy sector, shareholders disputes, distribution agreements, software and technology development and infrastructure projects.

Alejandro’s experience has developed in complex and multi-party international disputes, commercial litigation derived from distribution agreements, insurance and financial disputes, litigation of intellectual property, copyrights and complex cases of debt collection.

He has represented mining projects with investments of more than US $ 2.8 billion in Guatemala and hydroelectric projects (over 430 MW) in constitutional actions related to human rights and compliance with the ILO Convention (No.169).

Alejandro is named in the list of arbitration secretaries in the two arbitration centers of Guatemala (CENAC and CRECIG) and is also part of the CRECIG Arbitrators list.

He is an assistant professor of Procedural Law at Universidad Francisco Marroquin and professor of Civil Procedure and Commercial law at Universidad del Istmo.
