Profile

Alex is an Associate in the firm's Regulation, Business Crime and Compliance team. He regularly advises companies, shareholders, directors and individuals on regulatory compliance across a variety of areas including health and safety, environmental, food law, licensing and product liability.

The sectors which Alex has most experience include manufacturing, automotive, healthcare, leisure and hospitality, and education. He is also a point of call for the Corporate and Real Estate teams in undertaking specialist due diligence on acquisitions, investments, buy-outs and public listings (both UK and abroad).

Alex's recent experience includes:

  • Representing a core participant at the Grenfell Tower Public Inquiry, together with the project management of specific areas of disclosure.
  • Acting in a c.£1bn acquisition of a global management software enterprise, alongside other significant transactions, including a multi-jurisdictional food business takeover, the sale of a group of 24 holiday and leisure parks, and a well-publicised investment into a telecommunications provider.
  • Guiding an international retailer's management team through its compliance policies and procedures, whilst assessing the business' overall development and execution of its regulatory strategy.
  • Advising a multi-national infrastructure client in a whistleblowing investigation into breaches of health and safety law and allegations of corruption.
  • Acting for a business in defending its new directors on historic sales of non-certified / non-compliant ‘SHEV’ products manufactured and fitted in locations such as schools, hospitals and military bases.
  • Providing annual legal updates via structured training sessions to a global organisation for health and safety professionals.

Alex joined Shoosmiths in 2018 as a trainee solicitor, before qualifying in September 2020.

Prior to joining Shoosmiths, Alex briefly worked in the Financial Services sector, before gaining a Distinction in the LPC MSc in Law, Business and Management.
