Michelle Bufano is a Partner at the Firm, with the majority of her practice focused in the areas of entrepreneurial law and litigation for corporate clients.

Litigation Experience

Ms. Bufano has been a litigator for almost 25 years, primarily representing corporations.  While her focus is in the area of products liability law, she also has vast experience assisting businesses in other areas of commercial litigation.

Specifically, Ms. Bufano has represented pharmaceutical and medical device companies, as well as automobile manufacturers and other types of consumer goods manufacturers in complex products liability and mass tort litigation, including class actions, multi-district litigations and coordinated proceedings in state courts.  She has represented clients in litigations involving prescription and over-the-counter drugs, medical devices such as catheters and knee and hip implants, cosmetic and wellness products, automobile brakes and engines and household items made from plastics.  In addition, Ms. Bufano has significant experience in other substantive areas of complex commercial litigation, having represented clients in a variety of breach of contract contexts and other business disputes.

Tort Liability Counseling Experience

Ms. Bufano also utilizes her extensive products liability litigation experience to also counsel clients on various issues relating to tort liability.  She has experience advising on potential tort liabilities and risks in connection with the due diligence process for corporate purchasers.  She also counsels hedge funds and other potential investors with respect to potential tort issues regarding target acquisitions.

Additionally, Ms. Bufano counsels clients on potential tort liabilities relating to content-based materials, particularly within the regulatory context.  She also advises foreign corporations on potential regulatory issues, including those relating to food products that are subject to the jurisdiction of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Following law school, Ms. Bufano served as a law clerk to the Honorable Martin L. Greenberg in New Jersey Superior Court.

Entrepreneurial Law

Inspired by the strong women around her, Ms. Bufano recently started to focus on providing legal services to female entrepreneurs, founders, leaders and investors.  She leverages her almost quarter decade of litigation experience to help entrepreneurs take the steps necessary to control and manage risk.

Michelle also is the mother of two independent, strong daughters, who believe that they can achieve anything.  And they will.
