Brian Robbins advises companies in connection with economic development, tax planning, and tax controversy needs. Brian’s economic development practice focuses on representing companies as they relocate or expand facilities. He is able to help companies offset their capital investment costs for projects by negotiating incentive packages with state and local authorities that are tailored to the needs of a particular project. These incentive packages are designed to provide a “win-win” for the company, its workforce, and the local community. His tax background enables him to help companies maximize their after-tax return on investment for relocation or expansion projects, which paves the way for additional growth and expansion. Brian recognizes that each client’s situation is unique, and that their incentive packages should be structured to reflect their specific needs.

Brian closely follows developments in both the tax and economic development worlds and has a passion for developing creative strategies to maximize the available tax and non-tax incentives for projects. Most recently, he has developed a niche practice of providing advice regarding projects located in Opportunity Zones throughout the country. Brian has consulted with real estate developers, municipal leaders, venture capitalists, alternative investment managers, accountants, and entrepreneurs to help them understand and take advantage of this new tax incentive. He provides value to clients by incorporating an array of tax incentive and tax-advantaged financing options for projects in order to maximize the impact of a project.

Brian also works with companies to minimize their tax liabilities through effective and innovative tax planning, as well as through representation in federal, state, and local tax disputes. This controversy work may start as early as the audit stage and lasts until final resolution of the issues.
