C. Dennis Loomis is a member of the Intellectual Property practice group in the Firm’s Los Angeles office. Mr. Loomis has more than 35 years of experience representing major entertainment entities, manufacturers, consumer product companies, high-tech concerns, Internet service providers, educational institutions, trade organizations, advertisers, artists and entrepreneurs, both as a litigator and as a strategic advisor concerning intellectual property matters and complex business disputes and transactions.

Mr. Loomis’ litigation practice has focused primarily on complex litigation involving intellectual property, breach of contract and business torts, with additional work on disputes involving tax, regulatory, real estate, antitrust and class action defense. He has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in numerous jury and bench trials, in federal and state courts, on appeal, in arbitration and mediation, and in other ADR tribunals.

Some of Mr. Loomis’ experience includes:

  • Acting as national litigation counsel for industry leading manufacturer/distributor of commercial fitness equipment, including first chair trial responsibility in three federal court jury trials.
  • Negotiating and documenting complex master service agreement for provider of cutting edge cloud based medical provider credentialing system with Fortune 50 prime contractor, together with multiple state healthcare service subcontracts
  • Prosecuting a series of bench trials that rewrote the California tax treatment of motion picture special effects services, yielding over $7 million in tax savings for studio clients.
  • Managing domestic and international trademark portfolios for consumer products, publishing, and internet and entertainment companies.
  • Serving as principal outside counsel for a Fortune 100 consumer products manufacturer on all domestic and international intellectual property issues involved in the development and rollout of a retail website.
  • Representing a major entertainment trade organization in an antipiracy litigation program, successfully prosecuting more than 600 federal lawsuits authorizing no-notice seizures of infringing goods.
  • Designing anti-counterfeiting copyright/trademark enforcement programs and managing a national network of correspondent counsel and investigators for licensed merchandise based on major motion pictures and television series.
