Calum is a Legal Director in the Commercial team with a strong background in the energy sector having worked in-house at energy companies for over a decade. Prior to joining Shoosmiths, he was the legal manager for TotalEnergies' downstream business in the UK that included a £600 million turnover B2B produce sales business and a large B2C EV charging network. In addition, Calum was TotalEnergies' appointed director to six aviation joint venture companies and the VP for Ethics in the UK.

Calum regularly advises on commercial contracts (sales, purchasing, infrastructure and logistics) as well as project and joint venture specific arrangements. Calum has a particular focus on supporting companies involved in the energy transition and projects facilitating companies achieving their net zero ambitions.

Recent experience includes advising:

• a subsidiary of a large telecoms multinational on the creation of B2B template documentation for the supply of EV charging equipment;
• a multinational energy company on a suite of new template contracts for their EV charging business;
• a leading hydrogen electrolyser manufacturer on a key supplier contract;
• the lead consortium member in relation to a hydrogen demonstration project as part of the UK Government's Department of Business Energy & Industry Strategy (BEIS) Longer Duration Energy Storage Demonstration competition; and
• the lead consortium member in relation to a biochar platform project as part of BEIS's Direct Air Capture and Greenhouse Gas Removal Innovation Programme.
