Claire is counsel in the dispute resolution and litigation team and trusts and private wealth team at Carey Olsen Bermuda.

An expert in cross border disputes and private international law, Claire is recognised as a leading figure in jurisdictional issues both in the public law and private client fields. Claire has extensive experience of private client practice including contentious trust and estates work and her practice has frequently extended to cross border disputes in these fields.

In the public law field Claire has represented individuals and government departments on a wide range of public law issues, particularly those that interface with chancery/commercial law.

Professional Career

Significant Accomplishments


Prior to joining Carey Olsen Bermuda, Claire practised as a barrister at Outer Temple Chambers in London. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2003 and has extensive advocacy experience before the High Court and Court of Appeal. Claire was shortlisted as “Advocate of the Year” at the 2019/2020 STEP Private Client Awards and was consistently ranked by Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners and described as “exceptional in cases involving complex overlapping issues of jurisdiction, finance, or particularly difficult family dynamics” (Chambers & Partners 2020) and "absolutely dedicated to getting the best for her clients” (Chambers & Partners 2021).

While practising at the Bar of England & Wales Claire developed in depth expertise in mental capacity law alongside her other practice areas, and was been described as “go-to counsel for international mental capacity matters”. She is an editor of "The International Protection of Adults" (Oxford University Press), which provides comparative analysis of private international law rules relating to mental capacity law and the Hague Convention on the International Protection of Adults.

Claire is a full member of STEP and a member of the Chancery Bar Association. She was appointed King's Counsel in 2023.
