Profile

David Owen has more than 25 years of experience in the construction and engineering industries. He serves as the Practice Group Leader for Bradley’s Construction and Government Contracts Practice Group and is Co-chair of the firm’s Energy Team.

David is a registered professional engineer and practices exclusively in the construction, energy and government contracts areas. He is recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® for construction law and was named Lawyer of the Year for Construction in 2013. He is proud of Bradley’s recent recognition as the nation’s Law Firm of the Year for Construction Law in the 2018 edition of U.S. News – Best Lawyers, Best Law Firms. David also is a BTI Client Service All-Star, which is a recognition where corporate counsel singles out an attorney for “superior client service who combines exceptional legal expertise with practical advice, business savvy, and innovative, effective solutions.”

David represents contractors, subcontractors, engineers and owners in private and government contract matters. His practice has concentrations in energy, industrial, commercial building, hospital, highway, geotechnical and civil site development.  He has significant experience with megaprojects, EPC projects, solar facilities, wind projects, biomass projects, fossil-fueled generation facilities, complex tunneling projects, activated carbon plants, steel fabrication, hydroelectric generation, mass transit, rare earth metals, deep foundations, slope stability, retaining walls, dams, water treatment, bridges, concrete structures and automotive plants.

David’s practice is national and international, and he advises clients on matters and disputes that exceed several hundred million dollars.  He also drafts and negotiates contracts for various construction and design participants and routinely assists clients with contract management strategies in an effort to resolve problems early and avoid costly disputes.  When disputes are unavoidable, David arbitrates and litigates cases in state and federal courts across the country as well as in international forums.
