Profile

Deborah has practiced law for 7 years, specializing in Competition & Antitrust law. Her experience includes the analysis of cartel investigation cases, the abuse of power positions, and complex operations of mergers and acquisitions among companies. In her home country of Brazil, she participated with Brazilian authorities in the elaboration and drafting of legislation and guides to prevent anticompetitive behavior. She also worked on proposals for changes and updates to Brazilian competition legislation. During her years in Brazil, Deborah participated in numerous campaigns to reform civil, commercial, administrative, consumer, and competition regulation. She has spoken at conferences and seminars, and has developed research projects on these topics, with many of her ideas leading to discussions published by renowned Brazilian journals. Before joining BLP as an Associate in 2017, Deborah worked in Brazil as a Cabinet Advisor for the Administrative Council for Economic Defense – CADE. Previously, she had served the same Council as a Legal Assistant after working as a Legal Assistant at the law firm of Mundie e Advogados. Deborah received her Law Degree from the University Center of Brasilia in 2012. She went on to earn a master’s degree in Public and Constitutional Law from the University of Brasilia in 2015. Her degrees were equated by the Universidad de Costa Rica in 2016. She is currently a member of the Costa Rica Bar Association and of Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil, the Brazilian Bar Association. In 2015, Deborah moved from Brasilia, Brazil to San José, Costa Rica where her practice is based.
