Enrique De Alba is Senior Partner and Director of the Ship Finance & Registration Practice Group of Morgan & Morgan.

Mr. De Alba has more than 30 years of experience in all types of domestic and international maritime matters including: drafting of memorandum of agreements; purchase and sales agreements; bareboat charter agreements; documents of ship mortgages and related finance documents. During his early practice, he actively participated in a number of admiralty litigation cases before the Maritime Court of the Republic of Panama.

Mr. De Alba is one of the leading partners that contributed to the development of the firm´s maritime practice. International clients include renowned ship owners, charterers, and leading bank institutions responsible for finance transactions of vessels involving several billions of dollars.

Mr. De Alba is a member of the National Bar Association of Panama; Maritime Law Association of Panama (Vice-President 1992-1993) and President (1994-1996); Chairman of the Commission that replaced Book II of the Commercial Code of Panama with the Maritime Trade Law (Law No.55 of August 6, 2008 as amended by Law No.27 of October 28, 2014); Asociacion Panameña de Ejecutivos de Empresas (APEDE) (Member, Board of Directors, 1990-1992); Commercial Law Association of Panama (Founding Member); Inter-Pacific Bar Association; British Chamber of Commerce - Panama; UK Alumni Association of Panama; Cambridge Society; Fuji-Baru Association; Comite Maritime International (Titulary Member) and Instituto Iberoamericano de Dercho Marítimo (Full Member).

Enrique De Alba is listed as a leading individual in the Shipping chapter of Chambers & Partners. Mr. De Alba also received a special recognition from the Instituto Iberoamericano de Derecho Maritimo (Iberoamerican Institute of Maritime Law) Panama Branch (IIDM-Panama) as one of its founders.

He is also involved in pro bono activities of the firm serving as Counsellor of the Panamanian Gastronomy Academy, and has actively participated in the process for regulations of Law 55 and Law 27 that regulates the maritime trade in Panama.

Mr. De Alba is the author of the following publications: Thesis: “The Arrest of Ships in the Project of Maritime Code of Panama,” 1982. Mr. De Alba obtained a B.A., at the Saint Louis University in the U.S.A.; an LL.B., at the School of Law of the University of Panama; and a LL.M. at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.

Mr. De Alba is admitted to practice law in the Republic of Panama.
