Eric S. Smith is Of Counsel to Durham Jones & Pinegar and practices in the firm’s Salt Lake City office. His practice centers on federal, state and local tax matters.

Mr. Smith is a tax professor in the School of Accounting & Taxation of the Goddard School of Business & Economics at Weber State University. He teaches Federal Taxation of Individuals in the undergraduate accounting program and has taught Advanced Individual Taxation, State & Local Taxation, Tax-Exempt Entities, International Taxation, Retirement Planning & Employee Benefits, Tax Practice & Procedure, and Tax Research in the Goddard School’s Master of Taxation program. His research interests are directed towards issues related to state and local taxation and individual taxation. His publications appear in several of the top tax journals.

Mr. Smith graduated with distinction from Georgetown University Law Center with an LL.M. in Taxation. Prior to attending Georgetown, he graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law, where he was a member of the Kentucky Law Journal. He received his B.A. in Accounting from Weber State University, cum laude. Prior to joining the Weber State University faculty in 2009, Mr. Smith clerked for the Chief Judge of the Kentucky Court of Appeals, The Honorable Glenn E. Acree.”
