Profile

Geoff is a member of the firm’s litigation practice group and has experience representing businesses in a wide range of civil litigation matters, including complex and class action cases in both federal and state court. His practice focuses on consumer class action cases and business-related litigation involving false advertising, unfair business practices, and fraud claims. Geoff’s practice also involves representing public sector clients in various litigation matters.

Since joining Hanson Bridgett LLP, Geoff has successfully opposed motions for class certification in California state court regarding medical records overcharging claims and has successfully moved to decertify a damages class in federal court in a food labeling false advertising case. Geoff has significant experience litigating class action challenges to the use of the terms “natural” and “all natural” on food products in both federal and state courts, and has been at the forefront of defending these types of claims. In addition, Geoff has also provided regulatory advice regarding compliance with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s food labeling regulations and the litigation risks associated with the use of certain terms on food labels and product packaging. Geoff also has experience defending clients in environmental litigation involving natural resources, hazardous waste, and Proposition 65 claims. Geoff has represented clients in matters under CEQA, Proposition 65, NEPA, RCRA, and the California Hazardous Waste Control Law, as well as other federal and state environmental, land use, and natural resource laws.

While attending the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, Geoff externed for the Honorable John E. Munter and volunteered at the General Assistance Advocacy Project.
