A Special Counsel with expertise in outsourcing and procurement, telecommunications, technology and ecommerce, James has extensive experience advising both suppliers and acquirers of telecommunications services, infrastructure and equipment, and advising investors and insolvency administrators on information technology issues.

James' practice encompasses a wide range of industry sectors including finance, education, and telecommunications.

James' main areas of practice are drafting and negotiating contracts for telecommunications and technology infrastructure projects, telecommunications services, major software and systems development. He also acts in relation to intellectual property commercialisation, particularly multimedia products, and is involved in project implementation, contracts for website development, internet products and services, data collection relating to internet traffic and product distribution via the internet and ecommerce projects.

James also brings experience from acting in capital raisings and business/share acquisitions in respect of technology and telecommunications-based entities, technology-based joint ventures, establishment and management of sporting events, general services and consultancy agreements, and ecommerce and Internet-based products and services.

James' leading clients include: AARNet Pty Ltd, Nokia Siemens, Medibank, Goldman Sachs J B Were and RMIT University. He is the principal legal adviser to the operator of Australia's research and education telecommunications network, and advises it in relation to issues concerning infrastructure, access and supply of services.

James coauthored a chapter of the Australia eBusiness Guide and is a regular speaker at seminars such as 'Drafting Watertight IT Contracts'.
