Profile
Jay Webster is partner in the dispute resolution team at Carey Olsen Bermuda. Jay has more than 10 years’ experience advising multinational companies, partnerships, LLPs and senior executives on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters.
In particular, Jay has significant experience advising clients on executive dismissals; large scale global restructuring and reorganizations; organised labour disputes; business protection issues (restrictive covenants, team moves and confidentiality); data protection issues; sensitive grievance and disciplinary investigations; and providing senior management with strategic HR advice.
Jay has also advised both employers and senior executives in the UK Employment Tribunal and Court of Appeal. His recent UK Employment tribunal work includes advising clients in relation to claims for: unfair dismissal; disability discrimination; race discrimination; sex discrimination; whistleblowing; unlawful deduction from wages; and breach of contract.
Jay has been named as a recommended employment law practitioner in the UK Legal 500 (London Human Resources: Employer and Senior Executives) in 2017 and 2018.

Professional Career
Prior to joining Carey Olsen in January 2019, Jay was a senior associate at the London office of a large US law firm for five years.
Jay qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in September 2008. He graduated from Leeds University with degree in History (2003) and subsequently obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Law (2004) from BPP Law School London and completed his Legal Practice Certificate (2005) at BPP Law School Leeds.
Jay also regularly presents seminars to HR professionals on the latest employment issues and provides bespoke in-house training sessions for employers. In addition, Jay has written extensively on UK employment law for both internal and external publications. Jay is a member of the UK Employment Lawyers Association.
