Profile

Jean focuses her practice on civil litigation, including professional negligence and family law.  She represents individuals and businesses at the trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts, and is dedicated to helping families navigate and find the best possible solutions to the highly personal and emotionally charged issues associated with the end of a marriage.

Jean believes that lawyers should be problem solvers.  A skilled trial attorney, with numerous wins in her column, she is prepared to litigate but believes that clients are usually best served if she is able to help them resolve their conflicts outside of the courtroom where they are in control of the outcome.

Her litigation clients have included individuals, businesses, legal professionals, large institutional investors, and classes of individuals in multi-district and class action cases, including Holocaust survivors and the non-governmental organizations that represent them.  Jean proudly assisted those organizations in negotiating approximately $9 billion in compensation for Holocaust victims and survivors.

Jean represents individuals in all aspects of family law, including pre-marital agreements, divorce, dissolution, legal separation, paternity actions and proceedings that involve custody, visitation and support issues.  A stepmother to two, who has lived the issues facing blended families, she is uniquely qualified to offer compassionate, practical advice and help resolve what appear to be unsolvable family problems, including through the Collaborative Law process.  She has represented executives, business owners, and their spouses, and has significant experience handling cases that involve the valuation and division of complex assets, including privately-owned businesses and all manner of personal and real property.  As a partner at Dinsmore & Shohl, Jean has access to a deep bench of professionals who have experience in business law, real estate, employee benefits and executive compensation, estate planning and tax law.

An active member of her professional community, Jean served as the 122nd president of the Cincinnati Bar Association and is the longtime Executive Director of the Potter Stewart American Inn of Court.  She also supports grieving families who have experienced a death as a support group facilitator for Fernside, an affiliate of Hospice of Cincinnati.

Jean is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Kentucky and is admitted to the Bars of the United States Supreme Court and numerous federal district and appellate courts.
