Profile

Jessica Sparhawk is an associate in Bradley’s Litigation Practice Group. Jessica handles a wide range of matters from tort, product liability, employment law, complex business disputes, and contract disputes. She has assisted in representing a variety of clients across the spectrum of industries, including manufacturing, production, distribution, retail, government housing, small business, healthcare, pharmaceutics, traffic systems, and property management, in simple to complex matters.

Her employment litigation experience includes defending employers and their employees against claims that include wrongful termination, failure to promote, breach of contract, challenging the validity of employment restrictive covenants, and discrimination based on race, gender, disability, pregnancy, FMLA, FLSA, and age. These matters have involved single, multiple, and collective-action plaintiff cases. Jessica has handled employment matters from internal complaints to formal complaints made to administrative agencies and litigation before arbitrators and state and federal court judges. She has participated in successful mediations of employment cases and obtained the dismissal of cases at the summary judgment stage.

Jessica has a strong handle on managing document discovery and is well versed in e-discovery, as well as paper discovery. Jessica assisted in a mass tort litigation throughout the country, overseeing and planning the logistics of a team of paralegals and attorneys to obtain paper discovery nationwide. She can help clients of any and all sizes efficiently navigate the litigation process.

Jessica also assists clients with transactional matters, such as researching the effect of laws, statutes, ordinances, and the like on their business processes, researching case law to provide proactive advice on prospective actions, and reviewing and revising contracts with an eye towards litigation.

Her complex business litigation experience includes defending corporate clients in lawsuits brought by individuals, classes of individuals, and other businesses in actions such as fraud and contract disputes. Jessica has dealt with issues including indemnity, removal, joint and several liability, venue, ensuring the right corporate defendant is a party, and the like that are synonymous with complex business matters.

Jessica is deeply involved in the Montgomery community and provides pro bono assistance to low-income individuals through the Montgomery Volunteer Lawyers Program. She regularly attends the Montgomery County Circuit Court Judges’ dockets, providing pro bono representation and legal advice on the spot to pro se defendants. She also regularly attends bimonthly clinics at local churches providing legal advice to people in the community.

Jessica serves as an editor of Bradley’s Lawyers of Color Research Group newsletter and as a liaison for the Women’s Initiative.

Jessica earned her J.D. (magna cum laude) from the University of Miami School of Law, where she was a member of the University of Miami Law Review and is a member of the Order of the Coif. During her third year of law school, she was a clinic intern for The Eleanor R. Cristol and Judge A. Jay Cristol Bankruptcy Pro Bono Assistance Clinic and represented low-income individuals in Chapter 7, Chapter 13, and Chapter 11 cases in federal bankruptcy court. Jessica was also recognized for meeting the HOPE Pro Bono Challenge, as she completed 106 pro bono hours while in law school. She received a B.A. (magna cum laude) in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.
