John C. Sokatch is an experienced commercial litigator who works with clients on all aspects of litigation to effectively, efficiently, and aggressively achieve the client’s desired result. Mr. Sokatch’s practice focuses specifically on complex commercial litigation matters in state and federal court, appellate courts, and arbitration proceedings, including: limited liability company membership and partnership disputes; commercial real estate/landlord-tenant and development litigation; trade secret misappropriation; breach of contract, commercial sale of goods (UCC); breach of fiduciary duties (general partner, LLC manager, and financial planner disputes); Federal, state, and common-law trademark disputes; non-compete, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure agreements; and physician credentialing disputes. 

Mr. Sokatch has served as first and second chair trying multiple cases to a verdict or arbitration award, and provided oral argument and briefing to the Fifth Court of Appeals and Texas Supreme Court. Mr. Sokatch has represented clients in state and federal court, the Fifth Court of Appeals, the Texas Supreme Court, arbitration, and mediations, and is currently licensed to practice in the State of Texas and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Since 2016, Mr. Sokatch has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Texas Rising Star, and continues to grow his practice by representing prominent Dallas businesses and industry leaders and volunteering with the local community. In 2014, Mr. Sokatch served as a member of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce – Lead YP Class and Young Professionals Leadership Committee. Mr. Sokatch also serves as a member of the State Bar of Texas Trade Secrets Committee, where he recently assisted in preparing the pattern jury charge for the Defend Trade Secrets Act.

Mr. Sokatch earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, cum laude, from the University of Oklahoma in 2008. In 2012, Mr. Sokatch obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law, where he was a recipient of the National Order of the Barristers Award and won several moot court championships, including awards as best speaker and best brief writer. Mr. Sokatch also served as a member of the SMU International Law Review Association as an Assistant Managing Editor and Write-On Editor, and has published articles in The International Lawyer, the University of Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal, and the Defense Research Institute Magazine.
