Josefina has 20 years of experience in the field of immigration.

Josefina has extensive experience in the field of immigration and nationality law, which is distinguished by a high rate of success and by its breadth and depth. While her focus has been business immigration, she also has significant experience with complex deportation defense, affirmative asylum and family-based matters. Josefina also has in-house experience supporting the international legal operations of a Fortune 500 company.

Relevant Experience

  • Experience managing key client relationships. Experience providing assessments, determining options, risks, and case strategy. Experience managing overall workload for key corporate clients, delegating assignments to paralegals, monitoring progress, and providing training and technical guidance.
  • Extensive experience managing immigration matters on behalf of corporate clients including: EB-1 multinational manager, outstanding researcher and extraordinary ability petitions; labor certification; EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant worker petitions; employment- and family-based adjustment of status and consular processing; and H-1B, H-3, B-1 in lieu of H-3, TN, L-1A and L-1B, O-1, P-1B, and E-2 petitions.
  • Assisted in large-scale internal audit and document production of immigration, public access and I-9 files in response to federal grand jury subpoenas of a Fortune Global 500 company and its subsidiaries.
  • Managed a team of legal staff responsible for preparing and filing over four hundred non-immigrant petitions for a corporate client within a three-month period. Trained paralegals, delegated tasks, reviewed work product, monitored and reported on progress, provided guidance on legal analysis and strategy, and evaluated performance.
  • Experience gathering, analyzing, selecting, indexing and submitting evidence to USCIS, USDOL, and to Immigration Court. Experience conducting legal research and applying knowledge of case law to case preparation.
  • Obtained exemptions on behalf of client from U.S. Coast Guard pertaining to manning requirements on the Outer Continental Shelf.
  • Successful completion of many complex affirmative asylum, waiver, VAWA, deportation defense, suspension and cancellation cases. Experience arranging for expert testimony and preparing clients for interviews and hearings in deportation defense context.
  • Experience working in-house supporting Senior VP and VPs of international legal operations. Experience assisting with finalization of merger and acquisition, joint marketing, distribution, licensing and other agreements and amendments and assisting with review, indexing and management of contracts.
