Katherine Anne Elza joined the Firm in July 2019 as a Partner and is a member of the Property & Development Practice Group.  Prior to joining Graham Thompson, Katherine was a Partner at another law firm in Nassau where she practiced for 8 years.

Katherine specializes in real property acquisitions and sales, declaring condominiums under the Law of Property (Condominium) Act, subdivision planning and development, applications for Crown Grants, drafting and advising on private and commercial leases and property title and opinion work.  She also has a great deal of experience in other areas including probate and estate matters, intellectual property work and corporate services.

Katherine is actively involved in a number of charitable organizations including the Governor General’s Youth Award and the Cancer Society of The Bahamas.  Katherine, a keen golfer, combines her desire to help others with her passion for golf by chairing the Cancer Society’s charity golf tournament and helping plan and fundraise for the Governor General’s Youth Award’s golf tournament both of which tournaments are held annually in Nassau.  Katherine is also an avid tennis player, a member of the Board of Governors of the Lyford Cay Club and a Board Member of the Lyford Cay Property Owners’ Association.

Recent transactions include:

  • Advising private clients on the acquisition, ownership and sales of residential property in The Bahamas, particularly in Lyford Cay and Old Fort Bay.
  • Acting for various Downtown Nassau Waterfront stakeholders in relation to applying for and procuring Seabed and Jetty Leases from the Government.
  • Providing advice under the Planning and Subdivision Act and the Law of Property (Condominium) Act to developers in relation to the requirements and process for developing subdivisions and declaring condominiums in The Bahamas.
  • Acting for clients in respect of making applications to the Government for Crown Grants.
  • Advising clients on the acquisition, ownership, sales and leasing of commercial property in Nassau.
  • Advising high net worth families in relation to probate matters.
