Having spent 30 illustrious years in Tax law, Luis has gained prime status at prestigious legal publications such as Chambers and Partners and Legal 500. In Costa Rica, he is recognized by Government authorities for his superb ability to focus on tax judicial issues, without ignoring his consistent media participation in addressing the country’s tax topics. Luis is particularly adept at tax consultation and litigation, with an emphasis on providing assistance to companies during inspection procedures conducted by the Tax Administration. Besides tax litigation, Luis excels at administrative and judicial procedures for both national and transnational companies. In 2010, he left his position as Tax Manager at the international accounting firm of KPMG in order to join BLP. He was named a Tax law Partner in 2013. Luis graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Centroamérica in 1988, specializing in Tax Law. Over the years, he has completed a number of advanced courses and seminars in Spain, Argentina, U.S., and Costa Rica. He is a member of the Tax Technical Commission of the Unión Costarricense de Cámaras y Asociaciones del Sector Empresarial Privado, a member of the Tax Commission of the Costa Rican Bar Association, and a Tax Advisor to the Asociación de Aseguradoras Privadas de Costa Rica. Luis is based in San José, Costa Rica.
