Profile

Maren Messing is an Associate in the Firm’s Litigation department, where her practice focuses on false advertising, employment law, white collar defense, and antitrust law. Ms. Messing also advises clients on privacy and data security matters.

Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Messing served as a law clerk to the Hon. Paul G. Gardephe in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, and to the Hon. Chester J. Straub in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Representative Matters

Advise clients on employment issues including the drafting of employee handbooks, and on discrimination and retaliation complaints. Represent employers in internal investigations and before administrative agencies on matters relating to discrimination and retaliation.

Defense of class action claims against manufacturer of cosmetic and hair care products.

Defense of putative nationwide class action false advertising claims against a major consumer products manufacturer.

Representation of a major medical device manufacturer in connection with a civil and criminal Department of Justice investigation.

Representation of a major medical device manufacturer in a federal False Claims Act action related to federal procurement contracts.

Representation of a chocolate and confections company against allegations of price discrimination under state antitrust statute.

Representation of corporate boards and leadership teams concerning data security assessments, breach preparedness, breach response, oversight responsibilities, and internal investigations.

Representation of individuals in investigations involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other white collar matters.

Pro Bono

Represented child with special needs seeking special education services from the New York City Department of Education.
