Martin Šolc is a partner at Kocián Šolc Balaštík, advokátní kancelář, s.r.o., and as a founding member of the firm he was instrumental in its inception in 1990. He graduated from the School of Law of the Charles University (Mgr. - 1976, JUDr. - 1982).

He has been an advocate since 1982 and he is a member of the Czech Bar Association.

His main legal specializations include mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and corporate law, including corporate group law.

Martin has been recognized for many years as one of the leading corporate restructuring and M&A lawyers in the Czech Republic. and has been ranked as Eminent Practitioner by Chambers & Partners, as Leading individual by Legal 500 and as Expert consultant by IFLR1000. In 2018 he also entered the Hall of Fame of Legal 500 in 2018.

In January 2017 Martin Šolc became the President of the International Bar Association (IBA) as the first ever representative of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe to assume this role in the association’s 70-year history. His tenure lasted till December 2018.
