Matthew advises businesses at all stages of growth in a wide range of industries. His primary practice involves corporate formation, financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, general contract negotiation and drafting, and other general business matters. He also represents private equity and venture capital investment funds, general partners, and limited partners.

In addition, Matthew leverages his regulatory experience to advise clients in the transportation and logistics industry. He provides counsel concerning regulatory compliance and enforcement actions before local, state and federal administrative agencies, and he regularly drafts transportation contracts.

Prior to joining Hanson Bridgett, Matthew worked as a summer associate and senior law clerk in the Corporate and Securities practice group for an international law firm in their San Francisco office.

Before practicing law, Matthew spent ten years working for Pacific Gas and Electric Company (“PG&E”), California’s largest investor-owned utility, in a variety of business and regulatory roles.

While working for PG&E, Matthew earned his Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the USF Law Review and Vice President of the Business Law Association. He also earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for the highest grade in Legal Ethics. Matthew has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Management concentration from San Jose State University.

Matthew is a member of the American Constitution Society, Commonwealth Club of California, Bar Association of San Francisco, and Alameda County Bar Association. He has also served as a delegate to the Conference of California Bar Associations.
