Natalia Cosio Ondiviela is a foreign associate in the International Practice Group at Haynes and Boone. Natalia focuses on regulatory compliance in the oil and gas industry in Mexico, advising clients on matters involving the Mexico Energy Reform through a clear understanding of its scope, design, principles, implementation, authorities and relevant players. Her experience covers knowledge of the regulatory conditions required by different energy authorities throughout a project’s life cycle, including a variety of subjects, such as the permitting sequences for onshore and offshore exploration and extraction operations, as well as management and monitoring obligations for license contracts. She also has experience in midstream, downstream and retail legal requirements to obtain permits and operate projects, such as oil and gas pipelines, tank cars and tank trucks, storage facilities, service stations (gasoline, diesel and multimodal stations), and transloading operations, among others. Additionally, Natalia has been involved in conducting internal investigations and due diligence research.

Prior to joining the firm, Natalia was the General Director for Legal Consultancy at the Agency for Safety, Energy and Environment (ASEA) in Mexico City where she provided comprehensive legal solutions for the development of oil and gas projects. During this time, Natalia was engaged in the rulemaking process for setting the new industrial safety and environmental protection standards, together with the safety and environmental management system guidelines, insurance policies, and environmental impact assessment requirements.
