Nick is an associate in the Real Estate and Environment section, focusing his practice on environmental and land use matters. Nick advises clients on how to effectively navigate the complexities of obtaining development permits in California. He also litigates environmental cases in state and federal courts.

Prior to joining Hanson Bridgett, Nick gained experience in research and analysis for cases involving state and federal environmental law. During law school, he interned for the Public Rights Division of the California Attorney General’s Office, working in the environment, land, and natural resources sections. He was also an extern for U.S. District Judge Troy L. Nunley in the Eastern District of California. Nick served as a judicial law clerk for U.S. District Judge Sharon L. Gleason of the District of Alaska, working on a broad array of criminal and civil cases in federal court.

Assisting with seven-week arbitration allocating environmental investigation and remediation costs.

Advising corporate client on potential risks of purchasing previously contaminated property under state and federal environmental contamination law, including CERCLA and HSAA.

Representing public agency in ongoing litigation involving adjudication of groundwater basins.

Counseling Bay Area developer in dispute with city government and successfully achieving restoration of building permits that had been wrongfully rescinded.

Advising Bay Area tech companies seeking to develop and implement transit systems to provide alternative commute options for employees.

Petitioning for agency review of federal water law and Endangered Species Act decisions affecting agricultural client in the state of New Mexico.

Counseling real estate developers on a wide array of land use issues, including CEQA compliance, local agency appeals, and permitting.
