Nicola joined the firm in 2008 and is a partner in our commercial department. She provides advice to local, regional and international clients on corporate and commercial law matters including corporate finance, financial regulation, securities law, trust, mergers and acquisitions, energy, competition law, Caribbean Community law, and international commercial arbitration.

Prior to joining the firm, she practiced in the litigation and international law divisions of the Jamaica Attorney General’s Chambers where she represented the Government before the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal in cases which included banking and commercial law issues and also advised on matters relating to CARICOM and trade law.

Nicola earned her LL.B from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill and obtained her Legal Education Certificate in 2002 from the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica. She has been admitted to the Bar in both Jamaica and Barbados. In 2007, as a British Chevening Scholar, she earned her LL.M in international business law from the University College of London.

Outside of the firm, Nicola has tutored international law at the University of the West Indies, Mona, and has delivered presentations to a variety of audiences at conferences and workshops. Her articles on law issues have been published in several magazines and on legal websites offering an internet subscription service.

In addition, she sits on the board of the Substance Abuse Foundation Inc. a Barbados registered charity which operates treatment facilities for individuals suffering from substance abuse addiction or dependency.
