Peter Brunovskis is a Patent Agent in the firm’s Intellectual Property Transactions Group. Dr. Brunovskis has over 18 years of experience in patent law together with 14 years molecular biology research experience. He has prepared and prosecuted hundreds of U.S. and foreign patent applications in a variety of fields including biotechnology (e.g., therapeutics, diagnostics, antibodies, genomics, vaccines, nucleic acid and protein compositions, liposomal formulations, plant sciences), medical devices, chemical compositions, polymeric compositions and films, packaging materials, barrier devices, personal care and hygiene products, anti-aging and cosmetic compositions, herbal supplements, biofuels, and green technologies. He has evaluated patentability of pharmaceutical drug patents; assisted with inter partes reviews, freedom-to-operate and patentability opinions; formulated freedom-to-operate and invalidity searches; and provided due diligence support and evaluation of various patent portfolios. Dr. Brunovskis has also provided pre-litigation and trial support in support of strategy formulation relating to infringement, validity, and enforceability issues.

As a former Biotech Patent Examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Dr. Brunovskis examined patent claims directed to therapeutic compositions and methods; in vivo and ex vivo gene therapy, stem cells, viral-and nonviral-based expression vectors, nucleic acid- and protein sequences, diagnostic methods, and transgenic animals, along with extensive commercial and internal database searching and review of prior art.
