Profile

Punam Kaji is an advocate and an advisor whether she is guiding clients through labor and employment issues or serving the community. Punam is a listening ear for clients, willing to counsel regarding issues with specific employees or employment policies more generally. She routinely advises clients on best practices and reviews employee handbooks, policies, and agreements to ensure compliance with the most current law. She enjoys public speaking engagements to various audiences on employment topics, including social media and OSHA compliance.

Punam has provided assistance to clients on various employment litigation disputes, including defending against wage and hour claims, defending clients during EEOC and state investigations, handling settlement negotiations for discrimination claims and employment-related torts, assisting in the defense or prosecution of litigation involving non-compete agreements, non-solicitation agreements, and claims of misappropriation of trade secrets, tortious interference, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty.

Punam is a member of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Workplace Disasters Practice Group and assists clients in complying with federal and state occupational safety and health laws and regulations and in responding to site inspections, work-related injuries, illnesses and other catastrophic events. She has handled numerous litigation matters before both the federal Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission (“OSHRC”) and its state equivalents.

Punam is also knowledgeable about the intersection of healthcare and employment law. She regularly advises healthcare clients regarding employment decisions, with knowledge of the regulations and standard practices relevant to the healthcare industry.

Navigating disputes between the employee and employer often requires an understanding of interpersonal relationships and the work-place dynamic for any given client. Punam approaches each matter with a level of understanding and common sense in addition to her knowledge and practical skillset to help manage employment problems efficiently.

When Punam is not handling labor and employment issues for her clients, she is an advocate within the community. She volunteers with various domestic violence organizations, is active in bar associations, and is committed to pro bono work. In her spare time, Punam enjoys eating well and traveling.
