Ricardo celebrates 16 years of experience in Business Law, Banking & Finance, and Dispute Resolution. The prestigious publication Chambers & Partners describes Ricardo as a leading lawyer in corporate matters and a professional who is well-respected by competitors for his contribution to BLP’s Central American regional strategy. He has also been recognized among the top practitioners under 40 by the magazines, Latin Lawyer and Estrategia & Negocios.In Business Law, Ricardo advises a large number of national and transnational companies on various aspects of their day-to-day affairs, and is active in mergers & acquisitions and trade issues. His Banking & Finance practice utilizes Ricardo’s extensive knowledge of credit facilities and financing on behalf of major banks and financial institutions. In Dispute Resolution, he employs long-term professional arbitrator skills on behalf of clients.In 2013, Ricardo separated from the law firm Consortium, of which he was a founding Partner, in order to open the BLP branch in El Salvador, the firm’s second regional office. He brought to his new firm valuable experience as member of the Law Department of the Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador. Previously, he worked for two years at the Organization of American States in New York City.Ricardo graduated in Law and Social Sciences from the Universidad Centroamericana “José Simeón Cañas”. In addition, he has a J.D. and a master’s degree in International Trade and Finance with high academic distinction from Tulane University. He went on to earn a postgraduate degree in Local and International Arbitration from the Universidad de Valencia. Further study has rewarded Ricardo with a certificate in Legal Aspects of Electronic Commerce from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, certification in the area of Intellectual Property, Copyright and Related Rights by the World Intellectual Property Organization, and a program degree in Negotiation from Harvard University.Ricardo has served on the Advisory Committee of the Tulane University Latin American Law Institute and is an honorary member of the Center for International Legal Studies. After he scored the highest grade in the subject, “Dispute Negotiation and Resolution,” Tulane honored him with the American Jurisprudence Award.Ricardo is based in La Libertad, El Salvador.
